Amidoamine Formulation Guide

Amidoamines such as BD22 and S18 behave differently from permanently charged quaternary salts and require deliberate acidification and pH control.

Plan the neutralization route before the trial

Under acidic conditions, an amidoamine becomes protonated and more cationic. The acid type and amount, addition order, water quality, temperature and final pH therefore influence conditioning behavior and emulsion structure.

Use the grade-specific technical guidance to calculate a starting neutralization level. Add acid in a controlled manner, allow the system to equilibrate and verify final pH with a calibrated method. Check compatibility with anionic surfactants, polymers, preservatives and electrolytes in the full formulation.
