Cationic Conditioners for Shampoos and 2-in-1 Systems

Conditioning shampoos place cationic ingredients in a complex surfactant environment, making compatibility, clarity, deposition and viscosity especially important.

Compatibility comes before dosage

BTC95 is positioned for transparent shampoo systems, while GX60 provides a liquid cetrimonium chloride route. Selected behentrimonium and amidoamine grades may also be evaluated depending on the surfactant package and intended appearance.

Directly combining cationic and anionic materials can cause complexes, haze or precipitation. Bench work should vary addition order, dilution, temperature, salt level, pH and polymer content. The appropriate route is formulation-specific and must be confirmed by stability testing.

Read the compatibility guide, explore clear formulation considerations, or discuss a shampoo project.
